Estate Sale!

On Saturday, November 17th, 2012 there will be an estate sale of the Craig and Eva Nell Giblin, at 715 N. Wood, Caney, KS. It will start at 10 a.m.  Proceeds will be donated to the Caney City Library and the Caney Valley Historical Society. Concessions will be provided by the Caney City Library. Terms of sale: Cash, check or credit card.  Nothing will be removed until settled for. Not responsible for accidents.  A restroom will be available.

Some items listed are: sterling silver spoons; pocket watches; old books; quilt tops; zippo lighters; vintage card games; antique dressers and mirrors; 2 antique book cases; lots of 50’s toys; 1950’s Daisy air pistol with box; Marx Train set in box, cars and horses, some marbles; old trunks; boxes of Avon; tools; ladder; fishing poles; craft and knitting items; quilting frames; luggage and so much more!

Little Miss and Mr Christmas Contest

Voting for Caney’s Little Miss and Mr Christmas has begun! Candidates have thier cans up at local businesses. It’s a penny a vote, with the contest ending on December the 3rd. The boy and girl who have the most money in their jars will ride on the Can-Kan Dreambuilders float in the Caney Christmas Parade on December the 6th at 7 pm. This contest is sponsored by the Can-Kan Dreambuilders and all money collected will go towards building a new Caney City Library.

Legends, Folklore and Ghost Stories!

Do you have a story to tell? An unexplained phenomenon or encounter you would like to share? Author, Historical Society president and ghost hunter, Pam Van Schijndel wants to hear your story! Currently writing a book on legends and ghost stories in the Caney area, Pam will be at the Caney City Library to hear your story on Saturday, November 3rd from 11 a.m.-? The main goal of this book is to preserve and share our legends, folklore, and ghost stories with the future generations. You can remain annonymous if you wish.
